Module 4 Globally Conscious Assessment
Paper
Purpose
This assignment is designed to help you integrate a global perspective into the
assessment process and understand the roles that global trends can have in shaping
client problems, strengths, and goals.

Course Objective

• CO2: Collaboratively assess the problems, strengths, and goals of individuals,
families, groups, organizations and communities in a manner that embraces
their expertise, analyzes the effects of oppression and trauma, and understands
systems interactions from local to global levels.

Guidelines
Identify one of your clients (individual, couple, or family) for whom global trends have
made a significant contribution to their presenting problems. In your paper:

1. Describe the client’s demographics using their own identifying

language.

2. Describe the presenting problems and your role as a student-learner (e.g.,

case manager, therapist, advocate – describe how this role is performed by

you at your site). (Presenting proble- Paranoid

schizophrenia

3. Describe the assessment process you have engaged in with your client.

What questions have you asked?

What other sources have you used?

What research have you conducted?

Offer a conceptualization of how global trends play a part in the client’s presenting

problems.

4. Identify at least one trend from one of the following categories: economic,

environmental, cultural, and political. Use references to support your

assertions about global trends and their impact on vulnerable populations.

5. How are these global trends acting through macro and mezzo systems levels?

Conclude with your lessons learned about globally conscious assessment.

6. What has proved important to conducting an assessment that preserves

engagement and leads to an effective action plan?

7. What will you do differently next time?
